Lifetime ceiling = the maximum a single position can ever pay out if every slot beneath it eventually fills. It's a ceiling, not a forecast, but every dollar inside it is real.
The spillover that actually moves
When the position above you tops up again, their next slot has to land in the next available spot. Often, that's under you.
Every active pack-buyer above you is a tap. Every new pack is a drip. Most months, it rains.
Mop-up: earn deeper than your pack normally allows
Every purchase pays $5 into the matrix — split as $0.25 across the 20 levels above. If a position on a given level can't earn that deep, the $0.25 rolls up looking for the next ancestor who can. With an active autoship, you become a catcher for any depth your autoship pack reaches.
A new pack is bought 20 levels below you. Here's how the $0.25 per level travels up the tree:
- L1–L15Every active position earns to level 15, so each ancestor in those slots collects their own $0.25.
- L16The position on L16 only earns to depth 15 — it can't earn that level. The $0.25 rolls up.
- L17The L17 position holds a $104.95 pack (depth 17). They earn their own L17 payment and catch the L16 roll-up. $0.50 to them.
- L18, L19Neither of those positions can earn that deep. Both $0.25 payments roll up.
- CatcherThe next ancestor with a $208.95 pack (depth 19) and an active autoship catches both rolled-up payments. $0.50 to them.
- L20Still rolling. The $0.25 keeps travelling up until it finds an ancestor with a $416.95 pack (depth 20) on autoship — or it reaches the Founders Fund.
Without autoship
You earn on every level your position is good for — but only on payments that land directly on those levels. No catching from below.
With autoship
You become a catcher. When a payment can't earn at its assigned level, you catch it if you're the next ancestor whose pack depth covers it.
Cancel = stop catching
Mop-up is dynamic. Cancel autoship and you instantly stop being eligible to catch roll-ups — your own per-level earnings keep going.
